The Neighbourhood
Located just East of Toronto’s downtown core within the Beaches Neighbourhood. The scenery of the area is like no other. With a mix of Victorian, Edwardian and contemporary styled houses the area is a slice of old Toronto with a new age twist. The community is a tight-knit one that likes to keep the small town feel just outside the city.
Just an 8-minute walk down the road, you will find Queen Street East, the commercial district. Here lies the heart of The Beaches community. It is characterized by a large number of independent speciality stores. Depending on what you are looking for, the community offers something for everyone. Stop by The Embellished Room for a look at some fashion choices. If you are hungry dine in at Skin+Bones for some locally sourced food or La Sala for some house-made pasta.
A 6-minute walk further down the road, you will find the beach that gives the area its name. Along the beach front, there is a 3-kilometre boardwalk where anyone can enjoy the views of Lake Ontario and the sandy beach. The middle of the boardwalk is home to Kew Gardens, a 6.5-hectare park featuring a flower garden. Activities go year-round and offer something for everyone. Summer offers time on the tennis courts and baseball diamond. Winter gives the opportunity to enjoy the popular Christmas tree lighting and carolling. If you wish to get more of a taste for the Toronto city centre, you can take a trip down Queen-street on the streetcar. As well, the subway is a 5-minute bus ride away, giving you access to the entire city.
